Andy Warhol Sale at the Museum Store

The Museum Store at the UW Art Museum is holding a 50% off sale on Andy Warhol merchandise! The exhibition, Iconic Mass Culture: Andy Warhol's Portraits closed this past Saturday after great visitor turnout and an enthusiastic response! To say thanks for visiting, and to carry on the celebration of his work, this sale will run though the end of the year.

Items for sale include t-shirts, canvas totes, playing cards, books and catalogs, magnets, and notecards. If you saw the exhibition and missed out on purchasing one of these great items, or if you're simply an Andy Warhol fan, be sure to visit the Museum Store, which is open 10 am - 5 pm Monday through Saturday, with Monday hours extended to 9 pm through the end of November.

Final Week to See Two Exhibitions

Bill Schenck (American, b. 1947), An Ancient Place, 1999, oil on canvas, 40 x 50 inches, Erivan and Helga Haub Family Collection of Western Art

This is the final week to see two exhibitions at the UW Art Museum. People of the West - A Collector's Vision, Selections from the Erivan and Helga Haub Collection features a range of paintings, sculptures, and prints from the Haub's collection of Western American art. Ranging from Taos Society of Artists to contemporary artists, this exhibition portrays the various people and cultures of the West.

Iconic Mass Culture: Andy Warhol's Portraits is an exhibition of Polaroid and silver gelatin prints that were recently gifted to the Art Museum from the Andy Warhol Foundation's Photographic Legacy Program. In addition to these mediums, four screen prints are also on view. These three different media offer insight into Warhol's creative process.

The final day to see both of these exhibitions is this Saturday, November 13. Admission is always free. The Art Museum is open 10 am - 5 pm, with extended hours until 9 pm on Mondays. For more information, please call the museum at 307.766.6622 or visit the website.

Homecoming Sale at the Art Museum Store

To celebrate the University of Wyoming's Homecoming weekend, the UW Art Museum Store is holding a sale of 10% off all Andy Warhol merchandise. These special items, including fun t-shirts and totes, magnets, tablets, and books, were brought in to help celebrate the exhibition, Iconic Mass Culture: Andy Warhol's Portraits, which is on view at the Art Museum through November 13.

Tonight at the Art Museum will be an Art Talk by David McCarthy, a Pop Art scholar and art historian from Rhodes College. The title of his talk is, "American Made, American Masquerade: Andy Warhol's Democratic Portrait Gallery." This event is held in conjunction with the exhibition, Iconic Mass Culture: Andy Warhol's Portraits, on view at the Art Museum through November 13.

McCarthy will also be presenting a Gallery Walk Through on Friday morning, beginning at 10:30 am. Both events are free and open to the public. He is sponsored by the UW Art Department and the UW Art Museum. For more information on this or any other public program, please call 307.766.6622.
