Register Your Student Now for March Art Camps and Classes

Students work on art projects in the Shelton Studio during an art camp last year

The Art Museum's Education team is gearing up for a month full of fun and exciting art camps and classes!

March is “Youth Art Month” nationwide, and the Art Museum is offering a series of free Saturday classes for students ages 4 – 11.  This year’s classes will take place on March 9, 16, and 30, from 1-3 p.m. each day.

Every Saturday, students will investigate new ideas and creative processes, in addition to exploring and making art.  Projects will be based on the artwork that is on view in current Art Museum exhibitions.  Students will spend time in the galleries, following the Art Museum education model of observe, question, explore, create, and reflect, as well as time in the Shelton Studio working on their own art projects.

There is no fee for this class, but pre-registration is encouraged.  Parents of students 5 years old and younger are asked to remain with their students.  Be sure to wear art-making clothes!

Spring Break Art Camp will also be held again this year during the week of March 18-22 for students ages 6-10.

The theme of this year’s Spring Break Art Camp is “Investigating the Artistic Process.”  Students will explore the artwork exhibited in the Art Museum and then use what they learn to draw inspiration from everyday moments to make extraordinary art!  Students will discover different kinds of materials and ways to make art in the Shelton Studio, including sculpture, painting, collage, and more.

Students may enroll for the entire week or for just a day.  The cost is $60 for the week or a $15 a day drop-in rate.  Healthy snacks will be provided.

For more information on these classes and camps, or to register your student, please call Master Teacher Heather Bender at 307-766-3515 or email her at hbender1@uwyo.edu.
